Not all heavy bands are melodically-challenged. Some have a treasure-chest of very accessible songs, but still never appeal to the more ‘middle of the road’ music fan. King’s X is perhaps the epitome of this seeming paradox. In a weird ironic way, perhaps their greatest claim to fame and most discussed talking point centers on this mysterious dilemma of being so 'underrated'. However, to me at least, it is not that big of a puzzle; as I endeavour to explain.
