2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator
Changing wiper blades and flush the washer bottle/pump
4/5/2024
I was having a problem with the windshield washer on a 2022 Lincoln Aviator. The rear washer was not working, and one of the front wipers was barely dribbling. You could hear the washer pump running, so I could assume the wires, switches, relay and fuses were good.
There is a single washer fluid tank and pump that supply the front and rear washers. One hose runs from that pump to the front wipers, and a second hose runs from the same pump to the rear wiper.
I never really gave it any thought, but I believe the pump is designed to run both clockwise and counterclockwise. One direction feeds the front. The other direction feeds the rear.
So, logically, if there is a common front and rear problem… it would make sense that the pump is either weak of the suction side of the pump is clogged or restricted.
If you blow compressed air into your windshield washer tank or lines, you are doing it AT YOUR OWN RISK!
So, I did what I’m specifically warning you not to do: I blew compressed air backwards into the hose, through the pump and into the tank. That seemed to clear a blockage. If there is something in the tank, its still in there, and may clog the pump again.
I didn’t buy or replace the blades or refills, but here are some possible stores to buy from….
