These are some pictures of my 1/35 D-Day diorama.
Materials:
House insulation used for main ground work
Plaster cloth sheets for hills on top of the pink insulation
More plaster on top for final groundwork
Underneath the house insulation is a 2x2 sheet of plywood for a good base
This sides re made of basswood cut to fit the terrain
Sanded grout for the sand texture and color
Figures come in kits and are glued together (about 5-10 pieces) and then painted to be historically accurate to their unit and time
Boats are Higgins landing crafts which are about 350 pieces for the smaller ones and 450 for the bigger one. They are painted and weathered
The ground vehicles are anywhere from 40-350 pieces which are glued together then painted and weathered. The Sherman with fording gear is 2 kits combined to make in historically accrue for D-Day
The water is epoxy resin dyed blue and poured into a “mold” ( you can
see this done in my resin pouring video)
