We're working with our Local Aboriginal Land Councils - Awabakal, Bahtabah and Biraban to establish and strengthen relationships and to build the capacity of the Local Aboriginal Land Councils to undertake cultural burning.
Cultural Burning is an important indigenous cultural practice. It allows our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to engage with Country, to heal, maintain wellbeing and pass down ritual and learnings, while being proactive about looking after the environment.
This initiative is part of the Disaster Risk Reduction Fund, jointly funded with the Australian and NSW Government.
