We are on RENFE Alvia Euromed Train 1162, the medium speed long distance service train from Alicante to Barcelona via Valencia, as we take it to Valencia. We are in 1st class, which is called Preferente, as opposed to 2nd class, which is Turista. The train is run by a pair of Class 130 power cars. As we ride, we see the menu offered to passengers in Preferente. Food and drink are free, including alcoholic beverages. This train tops out at 100 MPH.
