"Scaling Puppet or How we do it at Mozilla" by Justin Dow, Infrastructure Manager at Mozilla. From PuppetConf '12. Learn more about Puppet: [ Ссылка ]
Abstract: At Mozilla we manage thousands of nodes with puppet with different environments, modules, SLAs and teams. Keeping on top of it all is a difficult task for a small team of sysadmins. We'd like to share and talk about how we manage to continually scale and grow our puppet environment, monitor all the things, and generally avoid being puppet babysitters full time. Using a mixture of puppet dashboard, nagios, IRC bots and some custom scripts, we are able to run our automation across 6 datacenters, 10 remote offices, with upwards of 1500 puppet clients reporting to 14 puppet masters, one dashboard cluster, 5 nagios servers and roughly 50 people with commit access to our puppet code.
Speaker Bio: Justin Dow, also known as simply "jabba", is a systems administrator at Mozilla. He manages a small team dedicated to core infrastructure services and corporate-facing services.
