SouthDowns Way- Winchester to East Meon. This was the first section on my 100 mile hike. Highlight for me was seeing the place the Allied Troops gathered before D-Day and General Eisenhower’s address. Many surprises when you get out into the countryside. I missed bus back to Winchester by less than 5 minutes and then had to wait 3 hours. Never mind more time in the countryside. I also thought I might get shot when cooking my breakfast in the wood as a farmer was shooting pheasants! Don’t worry about me!
