We’re living through an extraordinary moment in technological history. From Siri to autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence is developing at an exponential rate. The World Economic Forum attributes the Fourth Industrial Revolution to the growth of disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI). In a report by PWC, AI is estimated to be a US$15.7 trillion game changer by 2030.
Rapid technological developments can often pose challenges for different aspects of law. Is our Patent Law keeping up with disruptive technologies such as AI? Helen McFadzean, Senior Associate of Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick, will take us on a journey through time of AI development and the history of patentable subject matter in Australia, to explore current tensions between AI technology and patent legislation, as well as emerging issues for now and the future. As Bill Gates once said - The intersection of law, politics, and technology is going to force a lot of good thinking. Please join us as we explore these topics in the expanding and ever-changing technological frontier of AI.
