This is a video of highlights from the Sept. 22, 1974 National Football League game between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants, won by the Patriots, 28-20.
It is from This Week in Pro Football 1974 National Football League Week 2 by NFL Films.
The Patriots faced the Giants at the Yale Bowl in New Haven, Conn. In the first quarter, Norm Snead of the Giants threw a 21-yard touchdown to Ron Johnson, and the Patriots' Jim Plunkett answered with a 12-yard strike to Mini Mack Herron. In the second quarter, New York's Joe Dawkins scored from a yard out, and New England tied it as Plunkett found a diving Randy Vataha on a 38-yard pass.
New England took over in the second half as Sam Cunningham caught a 14-yard Plunkett TD pass in the third quarter and Herron ran in a 4-yard score in the fourth. Snead found Johnson for another TD, but the PAT was no good and the Patriots held on to improve to a surprising 2-0.
