Ecological characteristics of IDO Longan Cai Be Tien Giang tree
IDO Longan is a Thai variety that was imported to our country in recent years, and it is specially grown in Cai Be district in Tien Giang province. IDO Longan is a longan variety that is very suitable for the land of Cai Be district. It has a large thick rice, with small seeds, hard shell, and it is easy to harvest. It is also favored by both the domestic and foreign markets.
❖ IDO Longan grows and develops at an altitude of less than 700m. Longan is a light-loving tree, and if it is shaded, it produces poor fruits.
❖ IDO Longan can adapt to many types of fresh and salty soils: on red basalt soil, sandy soil, dune sand, dune soil, and riverside alluvium. Soil with a pH of 5 to 7 is suitable for longan growth, but poorly drained heavy clay makes the stem root rot and stunted slowly.
❖ The rejuvenation ability of IDO Longan is quite high. Current farming techniques help grow thick and also control height to increase yield quickly, ease pest management, and reduce harvesting costs.
