August is an important month for the pro-democracy movement in the Philippines. It gives us the time that we Filipinos need, especially in these very difficult times, to reflect on the importance of cherishing our democracy, and remember those who fought for its very survival. We remember President Benigno Aquino III forty days since his passing, President Corazon C. Aquino, on the twelfth anniversary of her passing, and Senator Benigno S. Jr. on the 38th anniversary of his assassination.
This video features all of the State of the Nation Addresses (SONA) that Corazon C. Aquino delivered as President of the Philippines. The speeches were delivered between July 1987 and July 1991 by President Aquino before a joint session of the Congress of the Philippines at the Batasang Pambansa complex.
