Presented At:
Molecular Diagnostics Virtual Event 2019
Presented By:
Kiana Aran, PhD - Co-Founder, Nanosens, Assistant Professor of Biomedical Sciences at Keck Graduate Institute, Visiting Assistant Professor at UC Berkeley
Speaker Biography:
Dr. Aran just published the CRISPR-Chip technology in Nature Biomedical Engineering. The technology allows for quick insight into the human genome and potential identification of genetic disorders via a handheld device. The technology which was developed in Dr. Aran's Lab integrate the CRISPR-Cas9 complex into the new Cardea Graphene Biosensors. This is the first example of CRISPR enabled electronic sensors for genetic testing. Dr. Kiana Aran received her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at Rutgers University in 2012. She then continued her postdoctoral studies in bio-engineering at the University of California Berkeley. She was a recipient of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) postdoctoral training fellowship at the Buck Institute for Age Research in 2015. She joined the Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) of Applied Life Sciences in 2017 as an Assistant Professor. For more info: www.aranlab.org
Webinar:
CRISPR-Chip: Detection of Unamplified Target Genes via CRISPR/Cas9 Immobilized on a Graphene Biosensors
Webinar Abstract:
CRISPR-chip combines two powerful technologies ,CRISPR and Graphene, for rapid detection of nucleic acids. This talk will focus on design and fabrication of CRISPR-chip and its potential utility.
Learning Objectives:
1. Utilizing CRISPR in electronic devices as a DNA searching tool
