This was a nice and quick route but i made the worst decision by doing a route that goes through Wembley on a Match day and the supporters were making a lot of noise on the bus.
London Buses route 83 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Golders Green and Alperton, it is operated by Metroline.
History
Route 83 used to be a long route running from Golders Green Station to Ealing Hospital via Hendon, Wembley, Alperton, North Ealing, Ealing Broadway, West Ealing, and Hanwell.
On 27 January 1954, the route continued to Hayes North via the present route 195. On 26 November 1958, the Ealing Broadway to Hayes section was withdrawn and replaced by route 105.
On 10 May 1961, the route was extended from Ealing Broadway to Heathrow Airport Central bus station via routes 65 and 91.
On 18 November 1964, the route was withdrawn between Ealing and London Airport.
On 3 October 1965, the route was extended to Brentford replacing route 255; this section was withdrawn on 30 November 1968 and replaced by route E1.
On 31 March 1979, the route was extended via Uxbridge Road to the new Ealing Hospital. It also swapped with route 183 in the Hendon area running via Hendon Central Station instead of via The Bell.
The route has always been operated from Alperton (ON) garage using double deckers including AEC Routemasters, MCW Metrobuses, and ex-London Buslines Leyland Olympians.
On 13 September 1997, the route was retained by First CentreWest.
In 1999, brand new Northern Counties Palatine bodied Volvo Olympians bought by First London for the route were among the last non-low floor buses bought for use in London.
On 14 September 2002, the route was retained by First CentreWest.
In November 2002, the route was converted to a low floor operation using Plaxton President bodied Volvo B7TLs.
In 2004, brand new Wright Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B7TLs were introduced alongside the existing Plaxton President bodied Volvo B7TLs.
On 17 April 2004, the route was converted into a 24-hour service.
On 12 September 2009, the route was retained by First CentreWest. The Sunday daytime service was increased to every 10 minutes, with the daily evening service increased to every 12 minutes at the same time
In November 2009, the Wright Eclipse Gemini and Plaxton President bodied Volvo B7TLs were replaced by brand new Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TLs.
On 22 June 2013, the route was included in the sale of First CentreWest's Alperton garage (ON) to Metroline.
On 10 September 2016, the route was retained by Metroline and was withdrawn between Ealing Hospital and Alperton. This section was replaced by 483 and the night service was renumbered N83 at the same time.
On 11 September 2021, Alperton (ON) garage closed and the allocation was transferred to Perivale East (PV) garage. At the same time, existing Wright Eclipse Gemini 3 bodied Volvo B5LHs were introduced alongside the existing Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TLs.
