For the syrup:
2.5 cups of water
2 cups of sugar
Quarter cup of lemon juice
Place sugar and water in a pot. Stir until the sugar dissolves and let it boil.
After boiling for about 10 minutes, add the lemon juice and boil for another 5 minutes.
Then let the syrup cool in the refrigerator.
For the dough:
3 cups of warm water
2 cups of flour
1/2 cup of semolina
1 teaspoon of yeast (or sourdough if you have extra)
1 teaspoon of baking powder
2 tablespoons of sugar
Mix all the ingredients and let it rest for
15-20 minutes. Cook in a pan like pancakes, only cooking one side. Don't overcook; it's enough for the side facing you to have bubbles and dry. Cover the cooked ones with a cloth to prevent them from drying out.
For the filling:
I made two types, one with kunefe cheese.

2 teaspoons of sugar
