Footage taken at this weekend at the Ffestiniog railway Bygones Weekend. The Gravity stale train was hauled up from Minffordd, with a stop at Tan-y-Bwlch, to Dduallt by Double Fairlie Merddin Emrys. There, the engine was detached and the train ran back by gravity to Minffordd
This re-enacts how the slate trains originally ran down to Porthmadog during the 1840’s and 1850’s until the first steam locos, Mountaineer and The Princess were delivered in 1863
