Russian President Vladimir Putin met Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico in the Kremlin on December 22, Russian television presenter Pavel Zarubin said. The meeting came as a contract allowing for Russian gas to transit through Ukraine nears its expiry date. Slovakia is dependent on gas passing through Ukraine. Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky refused to extend the contract set to end at the end of this year.
