Like many other 6 string players, i had a little period where i had trouble really bonding with my 7 string guitar, because none of the chord or scale shapes i learned worked when transferred to the low strings. This was a real buzzkill for me, and limited my creativity to bludgeoning power chords and single notes on my low B/A, much like a child might do.
Until the fateful day when i stumbled across this tuning, which effectively turns your seven string guitar into a baritone tuned 6 PLUS an additional high string! It's like the "extra" string is on the high side rather than the low side.
This means ALL standard 6 string chord and scale shapes now suddenly work on the bottom 6 strings, now in glorious baritone register! Very very cool stuff.
