today's video is about preparing agathi keerai poriyal / humming bird tree leaves recipe which is very tasty and healthy...
Ingredients:
humming bird tree leaves / agathi keerai - few bunches
salt as per requirement
for masala powder:
red chilly / vara milagai - 4 nos
coriander seeds / kothumalli - 2 tbsp
cumin seeds / jeeragam - 1 tbsp
pepper / kurumilagu - 1/4 tsp
dry roast and grind into coarse powder
coconut oil / thengai ennai - 2 tbsp
mustard seeds / kadugu - 1/4 tsp
bengal gram / kadalai paruppu - 1 tbsp
shallots / chinna vengayam - 20 nos
garlic / poondu - 20 nos
desiccated coconut / thengai thuruval - 5 tbsp
procedure:
*remove the agathi keerai from the bunch and stalk and chop them into small bits, wash them thoroughly , strain and keep aside.
*in a bowl boil 2 cups of water add the keerai, little salt and cook the keerai for about 2 mins and strain and keep aside.
*in a pan add the coconut oil , heat it and then add the mustard, bengal gram and saute it until golden and then add the minced shallots and garlic and saute for 2 mins, add salt and the masala powder and mix well.
*now add the desiccated coconut and mix well, next add the cooked keerai into pan and mix well for about 2 mins and now check for salt and switch off the flame.
*our agathi keerai poriyal is ready to be served, goes well with plain rice, rasam rice and curd rice..
