For _The Godfather_ (1972), makeup artist Dick Smith transformed Marlon Brando into the character Vito Corleone. Using groundbreaking techniques, Smith significantly aged Brando’s appearance and innovatively crafted the memorable “bulldog jaw” aesthetic. The Academy Museum’s exhibition _The Art of Moviemaking: The Godfather_ offers insights into the artistry and craft behind characters’ iconic looks and displays makeup materials used in the process.
