Waipā has an opportunity to give more unwanted household items a new life, reducing
waste and keeping stuff out of landfill.
We’ve been investigating how to increase resource recovery in our communities and visited Xtreme Zero Waste in Raglan to learn more.
A local resource recovery centre would allow Waipā communities to divert waste before it is sent to landfill in the most economical and sustainable way.
It could become a centre for waste education, support the community to learn and engage in reducing their own business or household waste, and add resilience to our ability to respond to waste created by disasters.
