Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) is a frequently used technique in materials characterization. It is most useful for studying the viscoelastic behavior of polymers. DMA mechanically deforms a sample and measures the sample response as a function of temperature, time, frequency and amplitude. The DMA measurements are used mainly to determine glass transition temperature, modulus, damping behavior, relaxation behavior, molecular interactions, creep recovery, degree of cross linking, crystallinity, and effect of fillers on material’s properties.
