Garbine Muguruza, a two-time grand slam champion, has announced that she will marry her partner, whom she met by chance. The Sun reports that the 29-year-old tennis star is preparing to marry her boyfriend of nearly two years, model Arthur Borges. The 2017 Wimbledon winner randomly ran into the groom-to-be in New York in August 2021 and asked him to take a selfie. Former WTA world number 1 told American media “My hotel was close to Central Park and was bored, so I thought should go for a walk. “I go out and meet him on the street. 'Good luck at the US Open,' he says abruptly. I thought, 'Wow, he's so handsome. Garbine Muguruza is a double grand slam champion. Muguruza met her partner Arthur by chance in Central Park. Muguruza explained that he and Borges continue to see each other and often take walks around Central Park. I was thinking of something else and then when he proposed, I started crying. I said yes through tears, it was so romantic." The happy couple announced their engagement. She is currently ranked 132nd singles by WTA, last played in January and told fans April that she took a break from tennis until the European summer.
