Authentic and Traditional way of making Davangere Benne Dose i.e, Butter Dosa with Coconut Chutney and Potato Dish (Sabzi).

Written Recipe of Davangere Benne Dose (Butter Dosa)
For Making Dosa Batter
Ingredients :
1. Raw Rice - 3 glasses
2. Urad Dal - 1 glass
3. Thick Poha - 1 glass
4. Fenugreek seeds - 1 tbsp
5. Water - as required
6. Salt - as per the taste
Method :
1. Take a large vessel, add raw rice, urad dal , thick poha and fenugreek seeds. Add water as required and mix properly.
2. Rinse twice with clean water and add water for soaking and soak for 5 hours.
3. Take a jar and add the soaked mixture and 1/2 cup of water and blend into smooth paste neither too thick not too thin and pour into a vessel.
4. Rest the batter for 8 hours. Then add salt as per the taste and mix well. Dosa batter is ready.

For Making Coconut Chutney
Ingredients :
1. Coconut - 1 medium sized cup (grated)
2. Green chillies - 2
3. Cinnamon - 1 inch
4. Cloves - 1
5. Black pepper corns - 2
6. Cardamom pods - 1
7. Ginger - 1 tbsp (grated)
8. Salt - 1 tsp
9. Water - 1/4 cup
Method :
1. Take a jar and all the ingredients mentioned above and blend into smooth paste.

For Making Potato Sabzi (Dish)
Ingredients :
1. Water - 1/4 cup
2. Onion - 1 medium (sliced)
3. Oil - 2 tbsp
4. Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
5. Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
6. Potato - 3 medium (boiled and mashed)
7. Salt - as per the taste
Method :
1. Keep 1/4 cup of water for boiling and add sliced onion into it and cook until onion becomes smooth and transparent.
2. Take a kadai, add oil, asafoetida, cumin seeds and saute for few seconds. Then add boiled onion and boiled and mashed potato, add salt and mix well.

For Making Butter Dosa
Ingredients :
1. Dosa batter
2. Homemade Butter - as required
Method :
1. Heat an iron tawa, sprinkle some water to know whether the tawa is hot or not.
2. Put the dosa batter and spread it evenly.
3. Roast the Dosa on low flame.
4. Put butter and let the butter melt slightly.
5. Flip the dosa and roast the other side.
6. Finally, fold the dosa and serve with prepared Coconut Chutney and Potato Sabzi topped with butter.
