Armed Forces Tribunal Act, 2007 contains elaborate provisions about the role and powers of the tribunal. These have been separately framed for dealing with disciplinary cases as also in matters involving conditions of service. The Act has the requisite clauses regarding transfer, appeal, contempt matters and making of rules.

Maj Gen Nilendra Kumar was Judge Advocate General of the Indian Army from 2001 to 2008. Thereafter, he headed Amity Law School, Noida as its Director from 2009 -16. Presently he is the Executive Director of Indian Society of International Law while also heading Lex Consilium Foundation, a charitable company incorporated under section 8 of the Company's Act devoted primarily to legal education. He is also an author, commentator and YouTuber on law and other subjects.
