The Foxtail Fern is a very beautiful and for me, it has a more organized look than it’s cousin the asparagus fern. This makes them perfect for garden borders, the only downside is that their root system is invasive to other plants So I feel they are perfect to plant in groups, away from other plants or plant them in containers as I do. Planting in containers also makes since for those that live in zones below zone 9.
Unfortunately the other downside is that these plants are very expensive and even the seeds are costly; for example Walmart has five seeds/$9.96.
But let me show you how to collect the seeds correctly and learn information on this cool looking plant. But we need to start propagating them early because they have a long germination rate and need time to grow into the gorgeous 2 to 3 foot plants spikes they will become.
