Derek O'brien of Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Tuesday wrote to the Election Commission of India (ECI) in connection with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photo, name and message being used on digital Covid-19 vaccination certificates given to beneficiaries.
In his letter to Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora, TMC MP Derek O’Brien said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is "debarred from publicising his name and claiming credit in this manner through government’s Co-WIN platform of vaccination” after dates for Assembly elections in four states and a Union Territory were announced.
He also urged the chief election commissioner to stop PM Modi from taking “unfair advantage and undue publicity at taxpayer’s cost during the conduct of elections.” Watch full bulletin.
