美 동아태차관보 이번주 방한 北•전기차 이슈 논의할 듯
The U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Daniel Kritenbrink, will be visiting South Korea this week for consultations on a variety of issues, which are expected to include North Korea and also the electric vehicle market.
Assistant Secretary Kritenbrink's trip will start in China, however, where he will follow up on last month's summit between Presidents Joe Biden and Xi Jinping --as the State Department put it, to continue responsibly managing U.S.-China competition.
While in Seoul, the American delegation's talks with South Korean officials are expected to reaffirm the determination of the allies to respond sternly to North Korean provocations, such as a potential nuclear test, and the effects of the Biden administration's Inflation Reduction Act, which as it stands, will seriously disadvantage South Korean makers of electric vehicles in the American market.
