A person has died after being hit by a train in an east Auckland suburb.
St John Ambulance spokesman Robbie Walker confirmed the pedestrian had died at the Glen Innes train station after being hit around 7am on Tuesday.
The age and gender of the person were unknown.
Police said trains were briefly stopped both ways before one of the two rail lines into the city was re-opened around 7.50am.
Auckland Transport tweeted that the second line was re-opened around 8.20am.
Six police cars and two ambulances were at the scene, where the train had come to a halt with two of its four carriages behind the platform.
