There aren't many Saturday afternoon trains from Carlisle down the Settle line so I had to compromise and head for Penrith. (My first-ever journey in a TPX Nova - is the track in poor condition or does the Nova suffer from a particularly rough ride?)
With the steamer running some 20 minutes late, I was all set up to capture the long approach from the south when, lo and behold - just as Alberta appeared, the camera chose to switch itself off! The resulting footage was better than I had feared but not what I had aimed for.
I was surprised, on my return to Carlisle, to discover a pre-Covid crowd on the platforms, no doubt cramping everyone's style.
Ah well - it may be some time before there's another chance.
Best wishes to one and all.
