My Teutonic Road Trip 2022 is coming to an end. Today I am arriving in my final town on this teutonic road trip from Ventspils in Latvia to Gdansk in northern Poland. Yeah, from the outside it may remind you to Gary, Indiana, but once inside the warmth of this survivor city, Gdansk, it's like no other place. Danzig, the old name for Gdansk, has been destroyed several times during the ages. On 13 November 1308, the Teutonic Order captured the town and massacred the inhabitants. After WW2, the city was in ruins after Allied bombing and Soviet shelling. But Gdansk is a city that gets back on its' feet. Today it is flourishing and a beauty. Welcome to one of my favorite cities in Europe.
