Illumination has a LONG history now with Minions and the Despicable Me franchise. It is notorious poor quality baby bait. But that wasn't always the case. Against 6 movies, many shorts, and all too much merchandising. There stands a singular movie that breaches out of TERRIBLE territory. Founding the entire breadth of where the franchise spirals out of control. Surprisingly in hindsight, it holds up a ton. The very first Despicable Me movie, standalone, is pretty grand, some might even say AMAZING. Against all odds, this is Illumination's ONLY Not-TERRIBLE Despicable Me Movie...
