In India, there are different types of ration cards. The state government categorises people and issues different ration cards according to the different categories. The state governments issue ration cards as provided under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013. However, the states that have not yet implemented the NFSA issue ration cards under the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS).
