This is video 1 of 2 of my Introduction to Elimination Reactions video series for Organic Chemistry. I have another video series specifically for the E2 and E1 Mechanisms that is you should watch after this series. In this introductory series I go over some key points that distinguish elimination reactions versus substitution reactions. Elimination typically competes with substitution reactions or occurs when you can't carry out a substitution reaction because you have very sterically blocked carbon.
