In response, Russia has lowered its nuclear strike threshold and begun constructing nuke-resistant shelters, such as the KUB-M, capable of housing 54 people. The West has condemned Russia’s “nuclear rhetoric,” with both the U.S. and UK urging Russia to cease its aggressive language and actions.
