Just in time for the Oscars, Strand brings you a special evening on the craft of cinema. Jessica Edwards' gorgeous book, Tell Me Something: Advice From Documentary Filmmakers, brings together photographs of great contemporary filmmakers with their advice on filmmaking and their own creative processes. In celebration of the Oscars and of Tell Me Something we are bringing together a panel of contributors to the book for share their thoughts on movies and movie making and to answer audience questions.
Jessica Edwards, editor of Tell Me Something, moderates the panel. Jessica's films include the documentaries Seltzer Works, Tugs and Landfill. Joining her, from left to right, are Albert Maysles of Grey Gardens; DA Pennebaker and Chris Hedgedus, the masters behind Al Franken: God Spoke; Sam Green of The Weather Underground and the Yo La Tengo documentary, The Love Song of R. Buckminster Fuller; Gary Hustwit, director of Helvetica, Objectified and Urbanized; and Rachel Grady of the team who brought us Jesus Camp and Freakonomics: The Movie.
