The North Downs Line is a railway running along the southern edge of the North Downs between Redhill and Reading. It has always been a bit of an anomaly, having been opened by the SECR in 1849, far outside of its usual territory of Kent. To this day it is only partially electrified, the eastern section being operated by Great Western DMU’s, the western section being operated by South Western 3rd rail EMU’s
