I created this tribute to Taheya Carioca by trying to reproduce some of her dances - her first solo performance based on carioca dance from the movie Flying Down to Rio (I am sure she did not use the original music from the movie as I did, but it was the best choice I think, as I don't have the music she herself used in 1930'). I also reproduced her dance from the movie Hero from 1950. Although some parts I had to recreate as Taheya is sitting half of the time on the stairs, entertaining 'sultan' :) For that, I used her other performances from the same movie.
I also wanted to recreate her costumes. With that, I got amazing support from the costume designer Anna Burchard & Jamilah from Poland, who spent tons of hours of preparing the replica for me. What a great job!
This performance comes from the Zafa Festival in Estonia, from Golden Era Night. Thank you dear Zafa Fest team for making it possible and lovely Vilma Viljus and Gerda Eerma for helping me in the 'transformation' section :)
