An alert has been issued in parts of Uttar Pradesh, including the Lucknow Commissionerate area, after UP Police and intelligence agencies uncovered an alleged terror plot on Sunday. Security measures have been heightened in the districts of Hardoi, Sitapur, Barabanki, Unnao and Rae Bareli besides western Uttar Pradesh.
Prashant Kumar, ADG (Law and Order) said, “UP ATS has uncovered a big terror module. The team has arrested two terrorists linked with Al Qaeda's Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.”
The alleged plot was uncovered on Sunday when the UP Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) raided two addresses in Lucknow. Five out of the seven people living at those addresses managed to flee the spot. An alert was then issued across Lucknow and adjoining districts in a bid to nab the suspects who remain at large, according to sources. Watch full bulletin.
