This is a short clip from a 3 hour informal radio debate out of New York City in 1968. The subject of the existence of God during the radio debate did not last long as the discussion shifted from topic to topic quickly. Here the radio host took a phone-in caller with a question which ended this particular debate & moved the subject to something else. There are only 4 possible explanations for the existence of the universe says Walter Martin (founder of the Christian Research Institute & author of the classic book, "The Kingdom of the Cults"): 1. Universe sprang spontaneously out of nothing. 2. Universe does not exist, it is only an illusion. 3. Universe must have ALWAYS been here. 4. Universe created by an intelligent Designer Who is outside of the physical universe & is uncreated. This necessarily implies the following: If something exists now, something has ALWAYS existed: Possibilities: 1. That which seems to exist is an illusion, actually nothing really exists. 2. Something does exist - that which exists is self-existent & eternal. 3. That which exists is self-created & eternal. 4. That which exists has been MADE by something that IS self-existent & eternal. Martin argues that only the fourth choice is possible based on what is known about existence.
Madalyn Murray O'Hair, world famous atheist, denies Walter Martin's proposition & argues that no one knows anything. She argues that it cannot even be known that out of nothing, nothing can come. Not knowing & ignorance is thus evidence that God cannot exist she argues.
Larry Wessels, director of Christian Answers of Austin, Texas/ Christian Debater (YouTube channel: CANSWERSTV at [ Ссылка ], see websites: [ Ссылка ], [ Ссылка ], & [ Ссылка ]) then references O'Hair's son William J. Murray's book "My Life Without God." O'Hair had used William Murray in her 1963 Supreme Court battle to remove prayer from public schools but in the end God got the last word on her son as William converted to Christianity at the age of 33. William Murray tells in his book of how his mother tried to defect to the Soviet Union & was involved in various Communist movements.
