The Department of Earth Sciences at Dartmouth College enjoys strong graduate and undergraduate programs in its pursuit of the ultimate Liberal Science. The faculty engage closely with students in research that is international in scope, with themes ranging from watershed response to natural and human disturbance, to environmental change in high-latitude/high-altitude settings. Their annual, fall quarter-long undergraduate field program traverses the North American West from the Columbia Ice Fields of the Canadian Rockies to the Grand Canyon. With in-depth field and research experience, Dartmouth students are well-prepared for careers in environmental consulting, the energy and minerals sectors, and academia.
