In 2011, among the top 10 egg-producing countries, five countries supplied about 55% of the world’s egg needs to the tune of a total of about 64 million metric tons. The current trends in egg production point to developing countries being the biggest suppliers for years to come. The United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has stated that, by 2015, egg production will have reached 70.4 million metric tons.
