When the colder months roll in, there’s nothing like fire cider to warm the body, strengthen immunity, and keep the sniffles at bay. This traditional herbal remedy is a spicy, tangy tonic that you can make right at home. It’s packed with vibrant, healing ingredients that have been used for centuries. You don’t need fancy supplements—just nature’s simple, powerful ingredients that support and protect. Take a shot of this fiery brew to feel grounded and ready to face the elements.
All the measurements in the recipe are rough estimates. The awesome thing about fire cider is that it is so customizable. There are so many herbs, spices, and food that have medicinal benefits: onions, garlic, oranges, rosemary, ginger, pepper, jalapeños, cayenne, thyme, radishes, sage, vinegar, honey, and the list goes on. Here is the recipe I used, but feel free to make a concoction of your own :)
Ingredients:
• a handful of garlic, chopped
• 1/4 cup grated fresh ginger
• 1/4 cup chopped horseradish
• 1 whole lemon (organic) chopped
• 1 tablespoon of tumeric
• A dash of cayenne
• A handful of cinnamon sticks
• ⅛ cup dried rosemary
• Raw apple cider vinegar (enough to cover)
• Raw honey to taste (added after fermentation)
Instructions:
1. Place all the ingredients (except honey) in a clean mason jar.
2. Pour apple cider vinegar over the ingredients, filling to the top so everything is submerged.
3. Cover the jar with a lid (you can use parchment paper between the jar and lid if it’s metal to prevent rust).
4. Store in a cool, dark place for 4–6 weeks, shaking daily to keep everything infused.
5. After fermenting, strain the liquid into a clean jar and add honey to taste.
6. Take a shot whenever you need a boost or use it as a savory salad dressing!
