COVINGTON, Ky. (Joe Webb) -- Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear declared a statewide snow emergency on Monday as heavy snow and bitter temperatures had road crews working all day in the bluegrass state.I-75 at the Cut-in-the-Hill near Covington was slow moving on Monday. The state of Kentucky actually has three snow trucks dedicated to the stretch of road who worked to stay ahead of the snow early Monday but mostly were playing a game of catch-up.Despite a pass of two salt trucks on Monday morning, the road remained slick in spots and some drivers unfortunately found their way into a ditch.Around 2 p.m. on Monday, light traffic made the stretch easier to navigate, but just an hour later at 3 p.m. drivers were riding their brakes up and down the hill.Going up it was a lot better but going down was really slow-going, said Zac Thurston who traversed the hill on Monday. I was probably going ten miles-per-hour, I think, in the slow lane.If you can wait a little bit when its not as crowded maybe you can delay your commute or maybe you can wait a little bit earlier that'll help, said Nancy Wood from the Transportation Cabinet of Kentucky. The less amount of traffic on the roadways is better for us to get our equipment out there and move in the snow.Follow Joe Webb on Twitter @joewebbwkrc, and LIKE him on Facebook.Follow us on Twitter @Local12 () and LIKE us on Facebook for updates!
