EM TV News Reporter Jack Lapauve now on the scene is confirming 3 people dead and 6 people injured after a Hevi Lift plane crashed outside Port Moresby.
Officers who were first on the site say the plane crashed between 9.30am and 10.00am this morning. The 3 dead are the Pilot, Co-pilot and a passenger. Their bodies have been transported to the Port Moresby General Hospital.
Police, firemen and other authorities are at the site and are currently undertaking investigations. It is believed heavy fog in the mountains may be a contributor. An investigation is on site to establish the cause of the crash.
According to a media release issued by the Civil Aviation Authority this afternoon, the aircraft was flying from Woitape, in the Goilala District of the Central Province to Port Moresby.
The crash site is located approximately 8 miles north from Port Moresby, near Mount Lawes. The Minister for Civil Aviation Hon.
