We continue short trips around Russia.
Today we want to look at Lake Lompad’, which is located not far from our village.
The area of the water surface is 8.7 square kilometers, the maximum depth is 16 meters. The length of the lake is 16 km. Within the city Ludinovo the width of the lake reaches one and a half kilometers.
The lake is home to 17 species of fish, including roach, perch, bream, rudd, pike, carp and others.
The northern part of the lake is surrounded by coniferous forest. We did not find any objects in this forest on the maps that could be reached by car. Most likely, there are dirt roads running through the forest, like the ones we showed in one of our recent videos. Along the shores of the southern part of the lake is the city of Lyudinovo.
This lake is beautiful in itself, and also remarkable for its history. We tell it in details during our trip. You'll know how and why the reservoir was created in 1740s, what plant was built around it and where the first Russian steam ships and steam locomotives were made.
