The Caves of Nerja (La Cueva de Nerja) is a breathtaking subterrenean complex of prehistoric caves, millions of years old but only discovered by accident in January 1959. A local group of schoolboys were out late one evening chatting as they hunted for bats. Then they spotted bats emerging from a small crevice in the rock. Their curiosity was peeked and what they were about to discover changed everything. Located close to the pueblo of Maro at the eastern end of the province of Málaga, the Caves of Nerja were about to be discovered and everything changed!
