Janet Anderson shares her thoughts on the importance of representation through books, and the impact that this can have on inclusion and diversity. Janet Anderson is a former sales manager for a Graphics Peripheral manufacturing company. After the death of her father and some introspection, Anderson determined she wanted to make a more personal impact on the world as….yes, a school librarian. Returning to school, Janet received her K-12 teaching certificate and Masters in Library Information Science. Janet began her school librarian career in Naperville districts 204, 203, and Oswego 308. She has been a teacher librarian at Barrington High School since 2007. Janet is passionate about the difference books can make in people’s lives. She has spoken at conferences throughout the United States with authors ReLeah Lent, Marsha Voigt and a team of BHS faculty members on disciplinary literacy. Janet is on the District 220 Equity team, the BHS Literacy Cohort and the Social Emotional Learning team. She is a faculty advisor to the Gay Straight Alliance (GSA), the Anime Club, and the Unsilence group. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at [ Ссылка ]
