Out of the thirteen grandchildren of Smt Veena Dhanammal , six of them took to their family's art and style and kept true to their legacy , them being Smt T Brinda , Smt T Muktha who were popular Jodi singers , Smt T Balasaraswati , the world acclaimed Bharatanatyam dancer , Smt T Abhiramasundari , a violinist, Sri T Ranganathan , a fine mridangam player and Sri T Viswanathan , a renowned flautist and professor of ethnomusicology. Sri T Vijayakrishnan & Sri T Sankaran , with a great deal of Gnanam of the Baani took to work in the All India Radio as officials. Through them we have the different branches that make up the grand ethos of the Veena Dhanammal Bani each unique its own way branching out like a beautiful banyan tree.
Presenting a grand composition of Sri Subbarama Dikshitar soaked in the very essence of the raga Sankarabharanam with all its intricacies rendered in the bhava laden voices of Smt T Brinda & Smt T Muktha. They are accompanied by Smt T Abhiramasundari on the violin and Sri T Ranganathan on the mridangam.
In this recording , one can notice the relaxing gait , the intensive breath control , the signature "Mela - Kizha" Singing ( Smt T Brinda sings in the lower octave while Smt T Muktha sings in the higher) , the oneness of the violin with the pauses and jaarus in the neraval swara section brought by years of playing together by sister Smt T Abhiramasundari and the musically oriented laya of the mridangam played by cousin Sri T Ranganathan , all of which are techniques of the Baani.
