Watch as our quality team performs one of the first steps of a bellmouth inspection. The Liquid Crystal Inspection or LCI is a type of NDT (nondestructive testing), it is a process in which the bellmouth is carefully heated to find disbanded areas in the composite structure. When applying heat the liquid crystal changes color, the test area should remain the same color during the cool down period. Indications of voids or disbonds may appear blue or green against the black background. The process is completed by outlining the colored area, once this is complete the bellmouth will move on to the next step of our inspection process.
