Sherisse was born in Selkirk, Manitoba. She started studying piano at age six and was soon writing her own songs and developing her magnificent vocal style. When Sherisse was 12 she moved with her parents and her 4 brothers and sisters to Winnipeg. There she sang in small theatre productions, operettas, barbershop quartets and on local radio.

Sherisse was barely into her 20's when she won an award in the prestigious American Song Festival, with her song winning over thousands of entries from professional songwriters all over the world. From 1978 to 1983 she was a co-host in a weekly TV series called "Circus". In the late 80's she joined Ray St. Germain's country show called "Big Sky Country" and most of the video clips uploaded on this channel came from that show.
